Many of these criteria still apply to women newsreaders on TV, who “do not stay young and attractive forever” and are quickly moved to a less visible role before they “turn into something of a battleaxe with the passing years”. Blokes however mellow with age and can read the news until retirement.

Wow…………When I began to read this, I thought, early to mid 1900’s……..WRONG! 1963 – two years before I was born. This explains why my mother (who had worked into her mid thirties) had to leave the workforce on her marriage.

I agree with the above post! A little visual census of the current affairs programs demonstrates this point cleary.

Have we moved on? Sometimes I wonder.
